Our team consists of five Boy Scouts from Troop 259 in Chesapeake, Virginia. They have all built with Legos since their early childhood, but they are now expanding their interests to robots and gaming simulation. Michael Egnor is a First Class Scout and Sheldon Greiling is an Eagle Scout. They are both in the Ninth Grade and attend Grassfield High School’s Technology Academy. They have both been a member of their school’s FLL (First Lego League) team from the Fifth Grade until Eighth Grade and the TSA (Technology Student Assoc.) team in Eighth and Ninth Grade in Systems Control where they went to State both years. Tyler Pool is a Life Scout who is currently working on his Eagle Scout Project, and is in the Ninth Grade at Western Branch High School where he is a member of the TSA Systems Control Team. He has also been on the FLL teams with Michael and Sheldon from Fifth through Eighth Grade. Tyler also participated in robotics at the Chesapeake School System’s Laboratory School for the Gifted and during two summers at the Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology. Michael, Sheldon, and Tyler also attended a week long video game design class sponsored by ODU at the Virginia Modeling and Simulation Center. Stephen Greiling is a Star Scout who is in Seventh Grade at Western Branch Middle School. He has been on his school’s FLL team since Fourth Grade and on the TSA team for two years where they placed 2nd in State. Stephen also helped his school build its first underwater remote-operated vehicle with cameras and lights. Sheldon and Stephen have both attended Robotics Level I and II classes at William and Mary’s Summer Enrichment Program for the Gifted. Seth Greiling is a new Scout in the Fifth Grade at Western Branch Intermediate. This is his first experience with Robotics, but he has cheered on his two brothers at their Lego competitions.
